Karakeeb

PalVision selected a group of five young people to learn how to create high-energy percussion music as part of a project called, “Jawalat Alquds” or “Jerusalem Rangers.” The group chose the name “Karakeeb” for themselves – meaning “waste,” in English – because they perform using everyday household items and things that would otherwise be thrown away as musical instruments. That is, things such as garbage can lids, brooms, empty water cans, cooking utensils, and wooden sticks. They have participated in many cultural events around Palestine, including the annual Bir Zeit Heritage Festival in 2009
