“Himam” aims to establish and empower youth groups consisting of 20 participants aged 16-24 in several areas to prepare and be ready to respond to emergencies that their areas may face, in partnership with the Civil Defense and the Palestinian Red Crescent.
Each emergency committee received a series of different training sessions, starting from life skills, citizenship and effective communication, and continuing with the Civil Defense and the Palestinian Red Crescent on topics related to volunteer work, code of conduct, response and first intervention with the public in emergencies, whether natural or man-made such as epidemics, earthquakes, or accidents, as well as communication mechanisms with relevant authorities and requesting assistance, ending with how to develop and build initiatives. Additionally, topics related to humanitarian principles (neutrality, impartiality, independence) and methodologies for needs analysis and data collection are covered.
The formed groups are currently centered in the following areas: Jura Al-Shama’a – Bethlehem, Jaba’a – Jerusalem, Haris – Salfit, Bzaria – Nablus, Ikataba, Jenin Refugee Camp, Tulkarm Refugee Camp, Nur Shams Refugee Camp, and villages northwest of Jerusalem.
