Children participating in the Education Project in the West Bank have completed a series of awareness campaigns that they designed and led themselves, with support from PalVision and in partnership with participating community-based organizations. The campaigns aimed to promote awareness of children’s rights and strengthen a culture of protection and participation within their local communities.
The campaigns were developed following a three-day training during which the children identified issues linked to their needs and priorities, developed the campaign ideas and key messages, planned the activities, and then took full responsibility for implementation and direct community engagement.
The campaigns included exhibitions, drawings, murals, child rights information corners, discussion sessions, community visits, and awareness-raising meetings. They also addressed key rights and protection issues, including the right to education, protection, play, participation, and prevention of child labor.
The campaigns were implemented in Jenin, Ya’bad, Al-Far’a Camp, Al-Jib, Bani Na’im, and Al-Shuyukh. Through art, dialogue, and community-based activities, the children expressed their views, delivered their messages, and raised awareness of the issues they had selected based on their own lived experiences.
These campaigns demonstrate children’s ability to turn their ideas into meaningful community initiatives and reinforce their role as rights-holders, active participants, and partners in promoting positive change within their communities.
