This initiative promotes volunteering and connects students to their land and olive trees, a symbol of their steadfastness and survival. A youth group rented olive groves in the village of Burin, then picked the olives together with volunteers from inside and outside the village, marketed and sold them. They earned 3,000 shekels and used it to buy 25 electric heaters for the village’s school classrooms. The initiative was part of the Tahfeez project, in partnership with UNICEF and in cooperation with Burin Village Council.
