Under the slogan “Knowledge is an Ocean”, the Palestinian Vision Organization launched a campaign to confront the alarming rise in school dropout rates among Palestinian students in East Jerusalem.
With a set of clear objectives, the campaign seeks to:
-
Highlight the dangers of school dropout in Jerusalem.
-
Raise community awareness about its negative impact on the Palestinian education sector.
-
Call on Palestinian decision-makers to take the lead in adopting policies that address the root causes of dropout and provide sustainable solutions.
Launched within the framework of the “Harak” Project, the campaign focuses on the growing dropout phenomenon in East Jerusalem schools, where the rate has reached an alarming 13% annually—compared to only 1% in West Jerusalem schools. Experts warn this is a serious threat to Palestinian education in the city, especially amid Israel’s ongoing policies of marginalization, distortion of Palestinian curricula, and attempts to impose alternative narratives.
To mobilize public support, the campaign promoted the hashtag #العلم_بحر (#Knowledge_is_an_Ocean) across social media platforms, encouraging the Palestinian community to engage with its messages and contribute to spreading its goals.
