As part of the Salalem Project, and through the joint cooperation between Palestinian Vision, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education represented by the General Directorate of School Health, Environment and Nutrition Department, and Save the Children, a specialized knowledge session was conducted to support the implementation of new school environmental initiatives.
Building on the success of last year’s school initiatives and the series of meetings implemented to activate environmental clubs in schools, the session was facilitated by Save the Children’s team and focused on hydroponics, soilless farming systems, and compost production. The session aimed to strengthen the implementation of new environmental initiatives and transfer practical knowledge related to environmental and agricultural awareness among students.
The training brought together 50 participants, including health committee coordinators, field health staff, and heads of departments from seven directorates. It provided an opportunity for experts and participants to exchange practical knowledge and experience, while enhancing capacities in hydroponics and its application within hands-on school environmental initiatives.
This training comes as part of ongoing efforts to support the educational environment through practical and purposeful activities, and to encourage school administrations to adopt innovative environmental and agricultural solutions. It also contributes to strengthening children’s sense of responsibility toward protecting the environment and its resources, while promoting positive health and environmental behaviors among students and the wider school community.
