In a step that reflects a shared commitment to expanding employment opportunities and building effective strategic partnerships, the Palestinian Stone and Marble Union signed a cooperation agreement with Palestinian Vision. The agreement primarily aims to launch a specialized program for the employment and training of workers in the stone and marble sector over a period of three years, while also opening the door for broader strategic cooperation between the two parties in the coming period.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the Union by its General Director, Mr. Shadi Shaheen, and on behalf of Palestinian Vision by its Executive Director, Mr. Rami Nasser Al Din. The signing was attended by the Chairman of the Union’s Board of Directors, Mr. Omar Abdullah Diriya, Board Member Mr. Sobhi Thawabteh, and Palestinian Vision’s Project Manager, Mr. Basem Bani Shamsa.
This agreement comes under one of Palestinian Vision’s projects, which aims to create employment opportunities for new workers with member companies of the Union through six month placements for newly recruited workers. Under the project, Palestinian Vision provides financial support covering two thirds of the monthly salary, based on the minimum wage, while employers cover the remaining portion. The project also offers specialized vocational training and professional capacity building to strengthen workforce readiness and enhance skills in line with the needs of this vital sector.
The program will begin its first phase in the northern areas and gradually expand southward, depending on the progress of the project. It seeks to employ and train the largest possible number of new workers in line with the project’s criteria and policies, and according to the needs of the stone and marble sector, contributing to stronger production capacity and expanded employment opportunities across the industry.
