In response to the emergency situation that arose following the events of October 2023, Palestinian Vision Organization developed the Jerusalem Emergency Committee Project to address the severe restrictions on movement in and out of Jerusalem’s Old City. These restrictions, along with their economic consequences, led to job losses and a significant decline in commercial activity, as fear and limited access deterred people from entering the Old City.
The project aims to establish and empower youth emergency committees, equipping them with the necessary skills and resources to provide support within the Old City and ensure the sustainability of their efforts through a specialized training program delivered by project partners.
As part of its response, Palestinian Vision Organization implemented several key activities, including:
- Providing 44 emergency kits containing personal care products to 44 beneficiaries in Jerusalem.
- Offering financial assistance to over 300 workers from Gaza who were stranded in the outskirts of Jerusalem and the West Bank.
- Supporting more than 1,340 vulnerable families affected by the crisis in Jerusalem and the West Bank, including in the Tulkarm and Jenin refugee camps.
- Conducting multiple training sessions in Jerusalem’s Old City, including:
- 8 specialized trainings for 80 youth emergency committee members in civil defense, first aid, personal skills, and psychological first aid.
- Distributing 120 food parcels to 120 families in need in the Jordan Valley.
- Providing 420 sports jackets for Gaza workers stranded in Qalqilya since October 7.
- Supporting over 5 schools in the Jordan Valley by supplying essential educational materials such as stationery and whiteboards.
Through these efforts, the project aims to strengthen community resilience, provide essential humanitarian support, and build the capacity of local youth to respond effectively
