Through its community-serving project–”Himam”, the Palestinian Vision Organization (PalVision) has worked alongside village councils on creating 5 emergency committees in the following areas: Iktaba, Bazarya, Jaba’, Jurat Ashma’a, and Haris. The committees included 109 female and male participants that age between 16-24 years old.
The participants completed 14 hours in life skills training, where the meetings focused on communication, effective communication, and cooperation and teamwork. In the present, the participants are finishing their training with the Palestinian Civil Defense in order to prepare them to identify natural disasters, mitigate their severity, and respond to them properly. These trainings also aim at introducing the Palestinian Civil Defense code of conduct, their roles and responsibilities, and pre- and post-disaster procedures.
It is worth mentioning that the project aims at forming emergency committees that constitute Palestinian youth who could work alongside village councils in the targeted locations (Tulkarm, Nablus, Salfit, Bethlehem, and Jerusalem) in order to identify, mitigate, and respond to natural disasters.
