This initiative was one of the series of youth initiatives Within The Mediterranean Youth Networks Project funded by the European Union, in partnership with UNISCO, PalVision Organization. the initiatives meant to empower the role of Jerusalemites youth and their leadership capacities, as well as to promote the effective participation of young women and men in resolving youth issues that serve their local communities, human rights issues and marginalized groups to contribute to the integration of people with disabilities into community events and activities.
In the Old City of Jerusalem, youth groups conducted 6 introductory tours for children with hearing and speech disabilities, where these cultural tours aimed at highlighting the importance of the participation of this marginalized group in social and cultural activates, enhancing their bond with the city and raising their awareness about the history and civilization of the city. The children were accompanied by an expert guide and a sign language interrupter.
The initiative also directed community institutions to target the hearing and speech impaired individuals and groups in various activities as a way of inclusion. That initiative was designed as a response to highlight the fact that this group is as important in participation as everyone in the same society in building their community.
