Palvision concluded the “Himam” project, implemented in collaboration with village councils in targeted areas (Jorat Al-Shama’a – Bethlehem, Jabaa – Jerusalem, Haris – Salfit, Bizzariya – Nablus, Ikaba – Tulkarm). During the project, Palvision formed five youth emergency committees, each consisting of 20 participants aged 16-24. In partnership with the Civil Defense and the Palestinian Red Crescent, these groups were trained and equipped to provide initial response in emergency situations that their villages might face.
Each emergency committee received 130 hours of training covering various topics, including life skills, citizenship, effective participation and in completion with the Civil Defense and the Red Crescent on volunteerism topics, code of conduct, initial response, and intervention in emergencies—whether natural or man-made like pandemics, earthquakes, accidents—and communication protocols with relevant authorities and requesting assistance. And finally, with how to develop and build initiatives.
Additionally, Palvision provided necessary equipment and tools to be used by the emergency committees, enabling them to intervene rapidly in emergency situations.
A code of conduct was also developed, which is an official document agreed upon and signed between the youth emergency committees and village councils, outlining responsibilities, general rules, and required tasks to ensure sustainability and continuity of the committees’ work in their areas even after the project’s completion.
In the final phase of the project, each emergency committee worked on identifying the village’s needs in consultation with the village council and built a plan for their initiative, including required activities. The initiatives primarily aimed at enhancing the relationship between the local community and the emergency committees, conducting awareness activities for citizens on how to respond initially to any emergency, alongside simulation and drill activities.
